About the creator

My name is Lucy and I am a student in the graduating class of 2028. For a school project I have chosen to create a website that contains information about transplants and bodily donations. I arrived at this idea because at the start of 2025 my grandma, who is a lung cancer survivor, had got a double lung transplant and a heart bypass surgery. Going into this with minimal prior medical knowledge was very frightening for me due to not being able to understand what was happening in my grandma's body, except for the possible outcomes of each scenario. Without the new lungs, she wouldn’t be alive for very long, and with the new lungs it wasn’t guaranteed that she would make it through. I am very grateful to say that after months of care and almost losing her in a post-op surgery, she is alive and well! After finishing all of my research and creating my website I have found that all of the information helped me to understand what my grandma experienced more deeply. This information would have been extremely helpful when we were in the middle of the procedure which is why I created this website. I will never forget those couple of months and it was my mission to help other people in the same journey that my family went through.
